Dana Johnson joined the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition in memory of her mother who passed away in January 2003. She began her journey as a breast cancer advocate by walking and volunteering with family and friends to help raise awareness and funding with local organizations. Over the years, her experiences would become her guiding light as her advocacy evolved to the legislative level as a Wisconsin delegate advocating in Madison and Washington DC. She learned to use her voice to engage in conversation with legislators and get complex issues addressed as she took her seat at the table with fellow advocates. She has served as a moderator for the WBCC educational symposium, a member of the Policy Committee and president of the Board of Directors. Nationally, she has attended the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) Summit since 2019 and was asked to be a Team Leader the following year. In 2021 she joined the NBCC Planning Committee and most recently was inducted into the Board of Directors. She is grateful for the mentorship and guidance she has received and pays it forward through her work in the community. She is a 2022 graduate of NBCC’s Project LEAD and a Sisters Network of Southeast WI Chapter member.
She took a leap of faith in October of 2020 and launched The Pink Table Talk podcast and blog to engage survivors and advocates in sharing their stories to change the narrative one conversation at a time. Dana has a son and enjoys spending time traveling and educating him on the importance of giving back to the community.
Dana’s profile is part of an ongoing series. Visit the Meet Our Team page to read more about featured WBCC members.
