Nancy is a longtime activist in the Marathon County area, working mostly on political issues and women’s issues. It was through this work that she met Dawn Anderson and her sister Kelly. After having lost several friends to breast cancer and hearing Dawn and Kelly’s family struggles with breast cancer, the rest is history. Nancy found herself attending Legislative Action days with Dawn and Kelly, educating legislators on breast cancer so the health needs of all women are met equally and in a timely manner. The landscape of rural health care is changing, and the needs of women in the northwoods can be much different than the needs of those of us who live in or near a city.
Nancy is also one of the founders of a Women for Women group in Wausau that holds monthly meetings with speakers on various women’s issues to help better educate the public.
Having recently retired from a career in mental health as a crisis professional, Nancy can be found hiking on the trails of Rib Mountain with her daughter and helping to put on candlelight snowshoe hikes in the Wausau area in the winter months.
Nancy’s profile is part of an ongoing series. Visit the Meet Our Team page to read more about featured WBCC members.
